Time to start giving...

In amongst the craziness of my work at the moment I have found a few moments to begin working on some simple gifts for those who have supported me during the year in some of the areas of my work.
This week is our last week of Playgroups and so I begin with some gifts for my faithful workers.

These notebooks were not only simple but lovely to make. I used an idea from here and adjusted the pattern to suit my materials.

Tomorrow I will show you an idea I found for wrapping them.

Here I go!

I have stopped talking about it and have made it happen.....
My online shop!

I love to create mainly sew and I have never quite found an outlet that works for me, between family and work. So after reading about Kate's  story, I decided it was time to take the plunge.

It will just be a place where I can with very little risk show some of the "things" I have been working on and maybe just maybe someone  out there somewhere will be keen to have one of my "things" for their very own.

Anyway I haven't finished updating the "products" but at least you can see where to find me and check in every now and again to see what's new.

Thanks for stopping by.

My online felting class started yesterday. Meg joined me in trying out the first very basic project...felt flowers.
Having never felted before I was unsure of how hard the process would be.....
too easy and it was quite addictive. I can see these may be appearing on a number of handmade goodies I have planned for Christmas gifts.

We dropped Meg at dance class tonight and then headed down to the beach for a walk along the sand....

and a run....
and a watching of the sun set....
On a very warm balmy night what better thing to do!

An early visit

Rudolph made an early visit today at playgroup....but seeing as next week is the final week and it will be ending with a Christmas party I thought it was now or never.
I saw the idea here and had to make some modifications due to the materials I could find.
These great pots were found in Bunnings and usually they would have a seed or two in them ...always fun to find another purpose for things  I say!

After the initial resistance from the mums about it being too early for Christmas things...they were a huge hit.

Felt- a - lious

I am taking my stash of wool and joining in my first online class starting Friday.....

I have had good intentions with this wool to teach myself felting.
But I now have the opportunity of being guided and taught by Emily and Nicole via their  online class.
It is not too late if you would like to join in....just head here for the details.

Hopefully I will have some things to show after the weekend.....or maybe I will have to keep them a secret as I am hoping to make some gifts for Christmas.

Heat Wave

It's not officially Summer here yet...but we were looking for a way to cool down this afternoon in what is the start of a number of hot days to come.....

Now just to stock up on the sunscreen because I have a feeling we are going to need lots of it.

My Creative Space

A friend in need of something extra it will be a basket of muffins and a hot loaf of bread....
While the bread was cooking I made  a 5 Minute Bread Bag to send the bread in....

Hopefully it will cheer her on in her day a little.
Check out what others are doing in their creative spaces.

Home Sweet Home

I know I have been telling you all about the "stuff"leaving our home.....but.....there has been an exception....
This is a dolls house  that belonged to my mum when she was little....
Maybe three or so which would make it about 65 years old. I think her poppa might have made it for her.
Anyway it has been residing in my dad's shed until such a time that someone was going to appreciate the fragility of it - that time is now for Meg.
It actually will need some renovation work done on it...but I do love the originality of it.
I am looking forward to spending some time with Meg making it really homely with some homemade touches- curtains, floor coverings soft furnishings all the things that seem to have gone missing over the years.

Hidden Treasures

There has been much purging of "stuff" going on in our house.....when you have been in the same home for nearly twelve years there is a lot of "stuff" tucked away in every available space.
It is time to dig in and find the treasures and also rid the house of most of the ""stuff"
I found tucked away in a box along with some other mementos of my mum these really sweet and tiny toys.....I totally forgot I even had them.
Very tiny Little Red Riding Hood puzzle blocks.
A very tiny of those toys that you press from the bottom and make it go all floppy( I don't know the technical name)
...and this book that is in a fragile state....

..I know those eyes could frighten small children!

I remember asking mum when we were small, if we could take a look in the dark (as it has glow in the dark eyes) and she would always say "be careful it is fragile".
I googled it and found it was printed in 1930...I think it must have been old when my  mum got it.

Tis the season...

For early mornings.....
We were up before the chickens this morning and off to the location of the old Power Station....

...for some shell collecting.....
and making of Christmas trees decorated with more shells....

oh yeah and to watch , cheer and support  this guy....

on such a beautiful morning it was well worth the effort...
1st in his age group!!!!!.
Not a bad effort at all,  voted by those of us who love him to bits!
This marks the start of the Triathlon season for us and a few more exotic places and beaches to explore over the coming months.

Friday's Sewing

My creative pursuits included a couple of different things today.....

Golden Book Bunting....I used an old ruined Golden  Book to create some very cute little bunting.

and one more ribbon rose tote for another friend...
What made it even nicer was the company of my sister to chatter away the day with.

Can you?

Can you jump rope?
Have you ever been able to once long ago?
This is amazing....and worth watching till the end......

Cushion sewing

I managed in a little spare time this afternoon to finish sewing this cushion idea I have been playing around with.
I wanted to use a vintage tablecloth I had, add some of my own embroidery to it and a couple of other touches from my stash.
I am pleased with how it turned out...I just forgot to iron it before the photo so will only show you a sneak look.

All the fun of the fair.

Today was the local country fair in our area.....this was a real fair as opposed to a fete or market.
We had a tent setup to promote Our Church and all that we have going on (our building is 500mtrs down the road)
It was a warm day with such a lot of people going through. While I helped "man" the tent for a couple of hours the kids enjoyed the sights ,smell and  tastes of the fair with friends.

Do I need it?
Did I want it?
Is it warranted?
Well the answer I think is a little of all of the above.....
I launched myself into the world of the "It can do anything phone".

After 15 years of the same phone on a prepaid scheme I have just upgraded to the phone that allows me to make many more calls, read my emails away from the office (??) and even spend way to much time accessing oh so much useless but  "must have apps".
Apparently I need to be a little  more aware of where it is at all time!
Oh the pressure!
(oops just recounted and it was only 12 years with the old phone!)

Out with the Old-

Today we moved our home a little more into the "modern"....
From This....

To This......
I feel kinda sad that my kids are not going to learn the discipline and skill of manually hauling up and down the tilt door.....the skill they will now have under their belt is
knowing where the remote is and how to "push the orange  button"
